“Robin Downs” is located on Storeys Lane, approximately 4.5km North of the town Illabo. It’s about a 4.5 – 5 hour drive from Sydney.
The route we travel most often usually goes:
Sydney –> Hume Hwy (M31) –> Then shortly after Yass, stay in the right lane and turn right onto Burley Griffin Way (B94). This will lead you up through Cootamundra and eventually into Illabo.
If you want a more scenic route, instead of turning off at Burley Griffin Way, continue a bit further on the M31, exit left at Jugiong (blink and you’ll miss the exit!) and head north to Cootamundra. The 35km windy route through the rolling countryside is quite lovely.

Throughout our years of travelling down to the farm we have come across a great bakery/coffee shop in Harden called Jackson’s Bakery & Café, 11 East St. Yummo. Having said this, Miss KM always *insists* we stop at the Yass Maccas … great for your cholesterol!
For those with weak bladders another good pit stop is “The Rollonin Café” at Bowning. It is just off the right a few kilometres after Yass.
